Our Grid Dot Bestie allows you to plan for the future, track the past, and keep organized in the present. This pairs perfectly with any of our STARTplanners! If you don’t feel like taking your whole planner with you everywhere this is the perfect Bestie size to put in your purse or bag wherever you go!! AND… a chance for you to be creative!
There is a something about the process of checking off a habit each day. Keeping a log of my progress really can help improve motivation and ability to complete the habit each day. This can really help see your progress along the way from start to finish. Don’t forget to reward yourself for even the smallest victories!
This can really help transform your entire outlook and mindset on life. There is no wrong way to create and gratitude list/journal. It can be first thing in the morning with a strong cup of coffee, OR it could be at night as more of a reflective outlook on the day. The most important part of this is to be consistent and write every day! Even the days that seem the hardest, or the days that you feed down or defeated, naturally writing down the good in each day will help lift your spirits.
This list can even go hand in hand with your habit and gratitude journal. Remember this Grid Dot Bestie is YOU, so make it fit for your life! On a daily basis, it is easy to be overwhelmed or distracted by all the things we are not achieving, and this can be exhausting physically, and mentally... SOOOO, let’s focus on the things you DID accomplish! They do not always need to be big grandiose victories. Give yourself ALL the credit.
Make a list of what you are going to eat each day of the week. In doing this you can then write out what you need from the grocery store so you can make sure you have everything you need! But, make sure you check your pantry first you will be surprised by what you already have in there! By doing this, you will also have a running list of some of your favorite recipes!
This can be a long ongoing running list of everything that you have on your mind. This is not a list to make you feel overwhelmed. Getting it down on paper and out of your brain can help you think clearer and in turn be more productive.
This new Grid Dot Bestie can also be something to help you track things related to your health, for example…
•Weight loss tracker
•Physical therapy exercises/track progress
•Headache or symptom tracker
LOVE this idea. Reading/writing down quotes can just be good for your soul! You can look back to see all your inspirational quotes when you might be feeling discouraged.
This is a BIG thing for some people. Mornings can be hard! Putting down how you want your morning to look like a really being intentional and staying consistent with this list can help you be more productive in the mornings, which can help everything run smoother. Also, consider putting down your nightly routine as well, especially if you have kids! We know not everything always happens like we plan but we can try, right?!
Every out and you think to yourself I cant forget the name of this song/book etc…Well use this bestie to keep a running list of books to read, movies to see, concerts to attend, etc.
Remember this is all about YOU and your life! So make it work for you. We can't wait to hear what awesome ways you all decide to use your Grid Dot Bestie! Share your ideas below!!!
People tell me daily “You are so lucky that you get to work from home! I wish I had that luxury!” I agree, it has its perks, but it also has its downfalls and after seven years working from home, I have learned a few lessons that I want to share with you!
Save money. I estimated that between gas and parking downtown, I saved about $400 every month-WHOA, that's a lot! Not only that, but I found myself eating out less, and my insurance went down because I wasn’t parking my car downtown every day!
Save time on commuting. Depending on your commute this could be anywhere between 30 minutes-2+ hours daily (bless your heart if your commute is over 2 hours.) When I worked downtown, my commute was about an hour each way. When you think about it, you can get A LOT done in 2 hours a day… that adds up to 40 hours a month…. an entire work-week EVERY month just spent driving! That’s a lot of time that could be spent with your family, at the gym, cleaning, working… I can think of about a zillion ways to spend that time saved!
Distractions. You think there will be fewer distractions. There aren’t; they are just different. Instead of coworkers coming over to chit-chat, your mom will call you midday to talk to you for 30 minutes about the raccoon in her yard that keeps eating the cat food. Instead of getting distracted at the water-cooler, you will get up for a drink of water–then decide to swap out the laundry, and then when you go to put your glass in the dishwasher, you realize it's clean, so you empty the dishwasher and reload it and before you know it, its 3 hours later and you still haven’t sat back down at your desk.
It’s Lonely! I am a bit of an introvert, an only child, and until this past year, I have always lived alone with my son. I enjoy alone time, and I’m used to it. So the loneliness was not something that I expected, but man-oh-man, when you realize that the only human contact you have had for days is the sporadic email and you go to the grocery store just to have a conversation with the checker, you know that something has got to change!
Some days I don’t shower. There. I said it, and I’m not proud of it! One of my goals this year is to shower before noon each day. I know that sounds weird, but its so easy when you know that nobody is going to see you to throw your hair in a top-knot and wear your boyfriends oversized sweatshirt all day, which doesn’t sound so bad until you realize that you smell so terrible that the dog won’t even stay in the office with you.
HERE ARE MY TOP 5 TIPS FOR MAKING IT WORK-WORKING FROM HOME.
The most significant game changer for me was setting “work hours.” I used to go meet friends for lunch, go grocery shopping mid-day, etc., but I found that when I got back, I had a hard time getting back into “work mode.” My team is on Eastern Standard Time, and I live in Portland, so my work day is usually from 5am-2 or 3 pm. It is unusual for me to schedule anything personal during these hours. With the exception of getting up to make lunch or take my dog, Phoebe, outside. It is rare that I get up from my computer during those hours.
Set a schedule to get out of the house!
This goes hand in hand with making a schedule for working, but I find when I have social events to look forward to, it makes a world of difference in my mood. I have a standing Wednesday afternoon coffee date with a good friend (she also happens to be my “get healthy” accountability partner this year). I go out to dinner about twice a week - Usually once during the week and once on the weekends. We try to plan these so that we are going out for enjoyment, not convenience, but its fun to find new places and I love the anticipation of date-night. I go to the gym. Yes, I could work out at home, but I look forward to the change of scenery and being around other people who are motivated and working on their goals. The point is find a few things that you can do to get yourself out of the house or you WILL go stir-crazy!
Find an accountability partner.
I cannot stress enough how important this is! SOME of us are self-starters… some are not, I personally fall somewhere in the middle. Some days I feel motivated to take on the world, other days I want to binge-watch “Friends” all day long. Having that person that you talk to regularly about progress, status, projects, etc. helps keep the motivation up. Kristy is that person for me.
Set clear boundaries.
My family knows that I am working when I am in my office. They will come in and say goodbye to me when they leave for work and school, but they aren’t coming in bothering me asking whats for dinner, where their grey sweater is at, asking for me to cook breakfast, etc. They respect my work hours, and in return, I make a considerable effort not to be distracted by emails, texts, Facebook, etc. in the evening when we have family time. My mom and friends also understand that during those hours, I am not free to talk on the phone or meet up for lunch (most of the time). I work hard when I work, and I give myself permission to check out from work and be present for my friends and family when I am done working for the day. Some days I like to wrap up a few things later in the evening after we have had our family time and while Patrick watches his shows, but I try to be very cognizant about not letting work take over all of our personal time. It is easy to do when you are a business owner and working from home. Sometimes it seems like I will never catch up on work, but I have learned to be okay with coming to a good stopping point and prioritizing my relationships too!
Don’t forget to shower! (and other self care!)
Seriously, Don’t be me. You will feel better and function better if you get up, take a shower and get dressed in clean clothes. I promise. I feel like a different person when I do. I don’t know what it is, I think its a combination of the hot water waking you up, feeling refreshed for a new day and something psychological about feeling pulled together instead of looking a hot mess. Plus, I found that when I don’t bother to do my makeup and hair, I am less likely to leave the house and be social, which just sends me into a crabby mood and it's a vicious circle.
Good luck working from home and drop in the comments if you have additional tips to add!
GOALS!! Sometimes this word can be intimidating, you may hear it and think of goals you didn’t accomplish, or maybe you don’t feel super motivated right now and you might be afraid of failing. We ALL go through times in our lives like that! This planner was created with you guys in mind. We already have so much in our lives we have to think about and do and take care of, we wanted to take some of that stress off your shoulders, 'cause we have been there! Goal setting does NOT have to be intimidating or scary, it can be exciting! There is a method to creating a smart goal! At STARTplanner we are true believers in writing down your goals, AND your actions steps…how are you going to achieve that goal and what steps are you going to take to get there! Having it visually down on paper, and visualizing yourself finishing that particular goal is going to get you to where you want to be so much quicker!
Visualize! Get creative and create a vision board to help you stay motivated when you are losing focus!
Break up the big picture into different areas and aspects in your life where you want to achieve goals this can help you organize your thoughts!
Don’t always think big! A goal doesn’t have to be this huge life changing goal. Start small! Your goals must be achievable for whatever stage of life you are in!
Accountability!! This is important!! Have someone to hold you accountable in the different areas of your life. It does not have to be the same person for each goal! Pick someone who will push you to be your best and will cheer you on the entire time through the struggles and the victories!
Remember there is NO wrong way to set and achieve a goal! Go at your own pace and hustle through! We are cheering you on!

Our 2018/19 midyear Planners are here and we are so excited to introduce them to you! Get ready to crush your goals with our Hustle and Fancy Pants Planners. If you are wondering which planner is right for you, this post will walk you through the details of each, and help you decide which one will become your new Best Friend! Honestly though, planners are such a personal preference and you might not know what works best for you until you try it. Here are some of the major differences that will help you narrow down your planner choice!
All of our planners incorporate goals, projects, finances, health, and scheduling into one. We believe that all areas of your life must work together in order to create a more balanced lifestyle. So now you just need to decide which format will best help you achieve this balance!
Decision #1: Daily planner or Weekly planner?
If you are unsure which layout is right for you, take our “Which Planner Is Right For You” Quiz and choose option C to get a sample download of our Daily and Weekly layouts.
If Daily, which one?
If you know you prefer a Daily layout, then you have the option of Hustle Daily Spiral, or Fancy Pants Daily. Let’s take a look at some of the major differences between these 2 planners.
Many people prefer a spiral planner because you can fold the planner in half and only see one page at a time. The spiral also gives you the option to add any of our downloads to your planner using our new Add-A-Page for spiral. Check out this video for more information on how to add pages to your Hustle Daily spiral planner.
Spiral planners require a little extra care when on the go as to not bend the spiral, but if you know for sure that spiral planners are your jam, then we have a new Hustle Daily B.F.F. Carryall to protect your best friend while you are on the go. The carryall is also great for Hustle Daily Casebound as well.
So, now to compare Hustle Daily and Fancy Pants Daily…...
Both Hustle Daily and Fancy Pants have the same size pages, 5.5" x 8.5". Hustle Daily weekends share a page, but Fancy Pants weekends each have their own page. So if you are super busy on the weekends, then Fancy Pants might be a better fit for you.
Hustle Daily weekend page (below)
If you are someone who prefers a planner with customization, the ability to add and remove pages as needed, then Fancy Pants is the way to go. It offers custom inserts for Realtors, Direct Sales Consultants, Photographers, Teachers, and Students. And then we have inserts for Extra Notes, Contacts, and a Weekly Add-in insert which is great for those who prefer a daily format but also want to keep a weekly rolling to-do list and move it from day to day.
Fancy Pants was designed with portability in mind, so although the planner comes with a full year of content, the binder holds up to 4 months of daily pages at one time, but ALL of the tabs and ALL 12 monthly overviews so you can still plan your year in advance. Hustle Daily has the full year of planning pages jam packed into one planner, but this is due to the fact that Saturday and Sunday share a page, so there are fewer pages all together.
So let’s recap, shall we…...
Hustle Daily Spiral - full year of content in one planner, weekends share a page, planner can fold in half to only see one day at a time, and takes up less space on your desk.
Fancy Pants Daily - full year of content included but binder holds up to 4 months of daily pages at one time (but all 12 monthly overviews), weekends have their own page, customizable, additional inserts available, portable and fits nicely in your purse.
If You Like Weekly...
If you prefer a Weekly layout, then you have the option of Hustle Weekly. There is a noticeable difference between these two planners…
Our Weekly planners are great for those who prefer to see their full week at a time and don’t need as much space for daily checklists.
Because Hustle Weekly has a larger format, it’s time slots go from 5:30am - 9:00pm and have twice the space for daily to-do's. This planner is a Sunday start with full time slots for Saturday and Sunday. Hustle Weekly also has the full year of planning pages all bound together.
We do have a Fuel Notepad, which combines meal planning and grocery lists in one, and pairs great with any of our Hustle Planners, especially if you prefer to not carry around your planner in the grocery store.
Now, what if you know you prefer a binder planner and already have a binder that you love, but are looking for a new planner? We’ve got you covered! You can purchase our A5 Fancy Pants Inserts here.
And once you have found the perfect planner for you, here are some of our new accessories for that will pair great with your new best friend!
First up is our Legit Notebook that can be paired with any planner, this is made for students and has everything you need to keep your academics on track!
Business Partner Notebook - Are you an entrepreneur? We use to have a Business Hustle Planner and then we had a brilliant idea. Instead of only being available for Hustle Daily, why don’t we improve it, make it better, and wrap it up into a notebook? This way, you can pick the perfect planner for your life and then pair it with the Business Partner to plan for success in your business. Genius!
Gym Pal - This is a notebook that is designed for someone who is looking to get serious in the gym. It is there to hold you accountable for writing it down, tracking it, and making things happen! Progress happens with just a little bit of effort and this Gym Pal is designed to keep you headed in the right direction.
Phew! That was a lot wasn't it? You can also check out our comparison chart here, which will some up all of the differences amongst our planner lines in a visual format.

Breast exams, annual exams and also track starting and stopping of their period. Grumbling states, "taking care of ourselves is something we tend to push to the end of our list and it is important that we constantly strive to put ourselves first and be forward thinking on preventative measures."
STARTplanner has two versions of spiral planners, daily and weekly, and they each have a unique spiral. Spiral-Add-A Page is a way you can add custom pages (charts, photos, lists, etc.) to your planner, thus allowing you to customize the function and content in your planner.
Goal Crushin’ stickers and progress tracker is a new way to record and track the progress of a goal. Assign someone to hold you accountable, then pick your end goal. You can then see your movement, by moving stickers onto the progress tracker as you work your way towards your goal! This set includes a sheet of stickers and a progress tracker Sheet that can be added into the Fancy Pants by hole punching it, or the Hustle with the Spiral-Add-A-Page.

We love hearing stories of how STARTplanner has changed peoples lives. We recently had the pleasure of having "virtual coffee" with one of our biggest supporters from the very beginning (and active member in our private STARTplanner facebook group). She shared her inspiring story with us and we were so proud of her that we wanted to share it with you too... We are proud to introduce Alexia Fields:
PS. We also want to give a HUGE shout-out and CONGRATULATIONS as she welcomed her third baby (a girl!) into their family this week!!
Kristy, Jenny and the STARTPlanner Family:
Let me tell you why this company means so much. I have been with you all from the beginning and it was a random purchase that brought you all into my life. I found myself at a junction of needing additional organization to help manage and juggle the “life.” See I find myself in a complicated trifecta of being an Army Civilian; a Reserve Soldier; an Army Spouse—did I mention that on top of that we have two boys age five and three and a baby on the way (due in a matter of weeks). So when I say that I live and operate in “chaos” (I carry three phones on my person at all times) that would be an understatement—but I LOVE it. This is exactly where I thrive. I find that I am my best self—when I am managing the crisis and juggling the multiple balls in the air. As a Battalion Commander, in the Army Reserve (fancy term for being in charge of people and in the Army for a long time)—I have quickly learned that I cannot do it all myself—this is where I ‘delegate’ and check back on the status of actions or focus my attention and time to matters that require me to action. That to me is where my STARTPlanner comes in—it is where I get to organize my thoughts and “center” my intentions. It is where I set the goals; manage my expectations and when I find success—I set new goals and when I find failures or shortcomings I reevaluate, take stock on my failures, and then set new goals or sometimes the same goals. It is therapeutic to put intentions on paper and then work toward them—clearly, decisively, and with purpose. It is in this simple planner that I have found a “battle buddy” an “accountability partner” a “cheerleader” and a “friend.” Not it doesn’t replace the “Tribe” in my life but it is assistant—that helps me to manage the schedules; the dinner menu; the shopping list; our budget; my workouts; and water intake---to name a few. For the 2018 year I will be utilizing the Daily FancyPants line—while in the past I was attached to the Daily Hustle. I like to see all my days and plan out months in advance—military travel, family vacations, girls-get-aways, the marathon I swore I was going to run (didn’t happen when growing pregancy and a deployed husband changed up the end of 2017) But what do I do for 2018—I adjust, reassess, I have set up my vision board and plan to live with “intention.” “Intention” is my word and motto for this coming year—for I am determined to my best self; whether that be my Pure Barre, Yoga and Running combinations; planning meals and quiet time ‘to be present’ with the family; growing our family with its newest addition of a boy or girl (it’s our last surprise); traveling for the Army; blocking off ‘time’ for piece of mind. Rest, massages, food, reading and laughter are my go to—I block off time to call those in my “Tribe” because with all the things that life throws at you the relationships that we have ‘Matter.’ So to my STARTPlanner Tribe and this wonderful community—let’s rock this next year. Here’s to 2018 and all the chaos that lays ahead—with “Wonder Star” (that is my planner’s name—an ode my admiration for all things Wonder Woman), all my “intentions” are possible!!!!!
Love & Smiles
