Our 2019/20 midyear Planners are here and we are so excited to introduce them to you! Get ready to crush your goals with our Hustle and Fancy Pants Planners. If you are wondering which planner is right for you, this post will walk you through the details of each, and help you decide which one will become your new Best Friend! Honestly, though, planners are such a personal preference and you might not know what works best for you until you try it. Here are some of the major differences that will help you narrow down your planner choice!
All of our planners incorporate goals, projects, finances, health, and scheduling into one. We believe that all areas of your life must work together in order to create a more balanced lifestyle. So now you just need to decide which format will best help you achieve this balance!
Decision #1: Daily planner or Weekly planner?
If you are unsure which layout is right for you, take our “Which Planner Is Right For You” Quiz and choose option C to get a sample download of our Daily and Weekly layouts.
If Daily, which one?
If you know you prefer a Daily layout, then you have the option of Hustle Daily Spiral, or Fancy Pants Daily. Let’s take a look at some of the major differences between these 2 planners.
Many people prefer a spiral planner because you can fold the planner in half and only see one page at a time. Hustle Daily has the full year of planning pages jam-packed into one planner, but this is due to the fact that Saturday and Sunday share a page, so there are fewer pages altogether.
The spiral also gives you the option to add any of our downloads to your planner using our new Add-A-Page for spiral. Check out this video for more information on how to add pages to your Hustle Daily spiral planner.
Spiral planners require a little extra care when on the go as to not bend the spiral, but if you know for sure that spiral planners are your jam, then we have a new Hustle Daily B.F.F. Carryall to protect your best friend while you are on the go. The carryall is also great for Hustle Daily Casebound as well.
So, now to compare Hustle Daily and Fancy Pants Daily…...
Both Hustle Daily and Fancy Pants have the same size pages, 5.5" x 8.5". Hustle Daily weekends share a page, but Fancy Pants weekends each have their own page. So if you are super busy on the weekends, then Fancy Pants might be a better fit for you.
Hustle Daily weekend page (below)
If you are someone who prefers a planner with customization, the ability to add and remove pages as needed, then Fancy Pants is the way to go. It offers custom inserts for Realtors, Direct Sales Consultants, Photographers, Teachers, and Students. And then we have inserts for Extra Notes, Contacts, and a Weekly Add-in insert which is great for those who prefer a daily format but also want to keep a weekly rolling to-do list and move it from day to day.
Fancy Pants was designed with portability in mind, so although the planner comes with a full year of content, the binder holds up to 4 months of daily pages at one time, but ALL of the tabs and ALL 12 monthly overviews so you can still plan your year in advance.
Now, what if you know you prefer a binder planner and already have a binder that you love, but are looking for a new planner? We’ve got you covered! You can purchase our A5 Fancy Pants Inserts.
So let’s recap, shall we…...
Hustle Daily Spiral- full year of content in one planner, weekends share a page, planner can fold in half to only see one day at a time, and takes up less space on your desk.
To learn more about our Hustle Planner you can watch this short video HERE
Fancy Pants Daily - full year of content included but binder holds up to 4 months of daily pages at one time (but all 12 monthly overviews), weekends have their own page, customizable, additional inserts available, portable and fits nicely in your purse.
To learn more about our Fancy Pants Planner you can watch this short video HERE
If You Like Weekly...
If you prefer a Weekly layout, then you have the option of Hustle Weekly.
Our Weekly planners are great for those who prefer to see their full week at a time and don’t need as much space for daily checklists.
Because Hustle Weekly has a larger format, it’s time slots go from 5:30am - 9:00pm and have twice the space for daily to-do's. This planner is a MONDAY start with full time slots for Saturday and Sunday. Hustle Weekly also has the full year of planning pages all bound together.
Here is a chart for easy comparisons of each planner's features:

We hope you enjoy your new 19/20 Midyear STARTplanner as much as we do! We are excited to see you CRUSH your goals! from https://startplanner.com/blogs/news/2019-20-midyear-lines
Every STARTplanner has pages for planning your annual budget and savings under the goals tab, we know that things change in a year, but having a vision of where you want to be headed can make a big difference when you are working towards a goal like vacation, retirement or a new home!
Once you have your year overview, we break it down into months, so you can record all your expenses and know what your monthly cash flow will be so that you can be sure that it is aligning with your annual goals!
Each day has a space to record daily costs of eating out to keep you aware of all those "littles" costs that add up so fast! (it can add up SO fast and really derail your goals of savings quickly, unless you budget for it appropriately!)
Buying a car? Saving for college? Under the goals tab, we also have pages where you can write your specific goals, plan out action steps that will get you there and set accountability partners.
Once you know what your bigger goals are, you can take those action steps and translate them to the mini-goals at the beginning of each month to help keep you mindful of what you are working towards.
We ALWAYS encourage you (and there is space to write it down!) to pick an accountability partner! This is someone who encourages you to stay on track with your goals, helps you find your way if you have lost motivation and someone to answer to if you feel like giving up! This person should be someone who isn't afraid to push you when the going gets tough!
Write down in your planner what days you will sit down and pay your bills...and then DO IT! It is so easy in the hustle and bustle to forget a due date but if you sit down once or twice a month and pay for all bills in the next cycle all at once, it makes it much easier to be assured it has all been taken care of! (and late fees are such a waste! We would much rather earmark that money for something fun, wouldn't you?!)
By managing your time better on our daily and weekly schedules, keeping on a schedule and blocking your like-items together for efficiency, you could open up pockets of time for a side hustle!
We have all been guilty of it... ok, ok, at least I know I have... going to the store for one thing and leaving with a $250 receipt (I swear, the chips on the endcap were BEGGING to come home with me!) But by using the meal planning /grocery list (available in Fancy Pants and Hustle Daily) and then STICKING TO the items on the list (Yes, we know it is easier said than done, but you can do it!) you can save yourself from those extra grocery impulse purchases as well as buying food that you really don't need or already have!
What?! Money Trees don't exist? ? yes.... sadly we know, BUT you can still use the daily to-dos and notes section to keep track of those things that you need to do to keep your goals moving forward and to write yourself little motivational messages to "keep going!"... by using all the tips here in you STARTplanner, you could even save enough money that you FEEL like you found a money tree!

from https://startplanner.com/blogs/news/lets-get-fancy-customizing-your-fancy-pants As a mom of 3 young boys and the CEO of multiple companies, it is imperative that we stay organized and keep everyone on the same page otherwise things will fall through the cracks. From a business perspective or worse with family functions. This is why we love using the Hustle Weekly in our household. We leave it on the kitchen counter to keep track of doctor appointments, sports, nanny schedule, preschool schedule, parties and all the other “family” events that everyone needs to be aware of. Every Sunday I sit down which also helps to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
I then use the Hustle Daily for work and my own personal appointments during the day to manage my work schedule. I love the Hustle Daily because it has tons of room for my lists, and its a little smaller than the Hustle weekly, so it takes up less room on my desk at work. And work wise my lists can get a little long, so only seeing one day at a time by folding it back is a game changer!
No shame in my game… I will be the first to admit that if I don’t write something down with a deadline, it’s not going to get done. As a single mom, I struggled for years to balance work, raising Jaxon alone, managing the household and trying to have a personal life. It was not easy and I dropped the ball many, many times. I designed STARTplanner out of necessity. I was tired of looking flakey, forgetting things, missing deadlines, and feeling stressed about life.
Jaxon is a senior this year and is class president, an eagle scout, involved in mock trial, mock congress, model UN, and speech and debate, along with taking a full IB diploma class load (college level classes) and we foster puppies for the local dog shelter. I'm sure you can imagine, life can get hectic, but we are actually more organized now than ever before. For me, The Fancy Pants combined with a Digital calendar (that Jaxon keeps for all of his classes and extracurriculars) is the answer to manage our lives. I have learned and embraced the need to write things down, and I love the Fancy Pants because it gives me plenty of room for my to-do lists. I love using the extra note pages to make chore-lists and leave notes for Jaxon and I also love the binder because I often have permission forms and paper work for him that I need to keep track of, so it makes it easy to keep everything together. Even on the craziest days, having systems and lists in place really help everyone stay calm and able to focus on our priorities for that day.
Nerd Alert! This year is going to be full of change! My son, Dalton, is headed off to college, I can’t believe it!
Finding the perfect planner is such a personal preference! With all the different varieties of planners we offer, we have all be able to find the one that works perfectly in tune to our very different but hectic lives. We hope that this has given you a little insight about the different planners and how they can be used! Are you ready to find planner peace?! Pick up your midyear planner today and get STARTed!! from https://startplanner.com/blogs/news/what-planners-do-we-use
Our Grid Dot Bestie allows you to plan for the future, track the past, and keep organized in the present. This pairs perfectly with any of our STARTplanners! If you don’t feel like taking your whole planner with you everywhere this is the perfect Bestie size to put in your purse or bag wherever you go!! AND… a chance for you to be creative!
There is a something about the process of checking off a habit each day. Keeping a log of my progress really can help improve motivation and ability to complete the habit each day. This can really help see your progress along the way from start to finish. Don’t forget to reward yourself for even the smallest victories!
This can really help transform your entire outlook and mindset on life. There is no wrong way to create and gratitude list/journal. It can be first thing in the morning with a strong cup of coffee, OR it could be at night as more of a reflective outlook on the day. The most important part of this is to be consistent and write every day! Even the days that seem the hardest, or the days that you feed down or defeated, naturally writing down the good in each day will help lift your spirits.
This list can even go hand in hand with your habit and gratitude journal. Remember this Grid Dot Bestie is YOU, so make it fit for your life! On a daily basis, it is easy to be overwhelmed or distracted by all the things we are not achieving, and this can be exhausting physically, and mentally... SOOOO, let’s focus on the things you DID accomplish! They do not always need to be big grandiose victories. Give yourself ALL the credit.
Make a list of what you are going to eat each day of the week. In doing this you can then write out what you need from the grocery store so you can make sure you have everything you need! But, make sure you check your pantry first you will be surprised by what you already have in there! By doing this, you will also have a running list of some of your favorite recipes!
This can be a long ongoing running list of everything that you have on your mind. This is not a list to make you feel overwhelmed. Getting it down on paper and out of your brain can help you think clearer and in turn be more productive.
This new Grid Dot Bestie can also be something to help you track things related to your health, for example…
•Water intake
•Weight loss tracker
•Exercise Plans
•Body measurements
•Physical therapy exercises/track progress
•Food diary
•Headache or symptom tracker
LOVE this idea. Reading/writing down quotes can just be good for your soul! You can look back to see all your inspirational quotes when you might be feeling discouraged.
This is a BIG thing for some people. Mornings can be hard! Putting down how you want your morning to look like a really being intentional and staying consistent with this list can help you be more productive in the mornings, which can help everything run smoother. Also, consider putting down your nightly routine as well, especially if you have kids! We know not everything always happens like we plan but we can try, right?!
Every out and you think to yourself I cant forget the name of this song/book etc…Well use this bestie to keep a running list of books to read, movies to see, concerts to attend, etc.
Remember this is all about YOU and your life! So make it work for you. We can't wait to hear what awesome ways you all decide to use your Grid Dot Bestie! Share your ideas below!!!
from https://startplanner.com/blogs/news/9-ways-to-use-your-grid-dot-bestie People tell me daily “You are so lucky that you get to work from home! I wish I had that luxury!” I agree, it has its perks, but it also has its downfalls and after seven years working from home, I have learned a few lessons that I want to share with you!
Save money. I estimated that between gas and parking downtown, I saved about $400 every month-WHOA, that's a lot! Not only that, but I found myself eating out less, and my insurance went down because I wasn’t parking my car downtown every day!
Save time on commuting. Depending on your commute this could be anywhere between 30 minutes-2+ hours daily (bless your heart if your commute is over 2 hours.) When I worked downtown, my commute was about an hour each way. When you think about it, you can get A LOT done in 2 hours a day… that adds up to 40 hours a month…. an entire work-week EVERY month just spent driving! That’s a lot of time that could be spent with your family, at the gym, cleaning, working… I can think of about a zillion ways to spend that time saved!
Distractions. You think there will be fewer distractions. There aren’t; they are just different. Instead of coworkers coming over to chit-chat, your mom will call you midday to talk to you for 30 minutes about the raccoon in her yard that keeps eating the cat food. Instead of getting distracted at the water-cooler, you will get up for a drink of water–then decide to swap out the laundry, and then when you go to put your glass in the dishwasher, you realize it's clean, so you empty the dishwasher and reload it and before you know it, its 3 hours later and you still haven’t sat back down at your desk.
It’s Lonely! I am a bit of an introvert, an only child, and until this past year, I have always lived alone with my son. I enjoy alone time, and I’m used to it. So the loneliness was not something that I expected, but man-oh-man, when you realize that the only human contact you have had for days is the sporadic email and you go to the grocery store just to have a conversation with the checker, you know that something has got to change!
Some days I don’t shower. There. I said it, and I’m not proud of it! One of my goals this year is to shower before noon each day. I know that sounds weird, but its so easy when you know that nobody is going to see you to throw your hair in a top-knot and wear your boyfriends oversized sweatshirt all day, which doesn’t sound so bad until you realize that you smell so terrible that the dog won’t even stay in the office with you.
HERE ARE MY TOP 5 TIPS FOR MAKING IT WORK-WORKING FROM HOME.
The most significant game changer for me was setting “work hours.” I used to go meet friends for lunch, go grocery shopping mid-day, etc., but I found that when I got back, I had a hard time getting back into “work mode.” My team is on Eastern Standard Time, and I live in Portland, so my work day is usually from 5am-2 or 3 pm. It is unusual for me to schedule anything personal during these hours. With the exception of getting up to make lunch or take my dog, Phoebe, outside. It is rare that I get up from my computer during those hours.
Set a schedule to get out of the house!
This goes hand in hand with making a schedule for working, but I find when I have social events to look forward to, it makes a world of difference in my mood. I have a standing Wednesday afternoon coffee date with a good friend (she also happens to be my “get healthy” accountability partner this year). I go out to dinner about twice a week - Usually once during the week and once on the weekends. We try to plan these so that we are going out for enjoyment, not convenience, but its fun to find new places and I love the anticipation of date-night. I go to the gym. Yes, I could work out at home, but I look forward to the change of scenery and being around other people who are motivated and working on their goals. The point is find a few things that you can do to get yourself out of the house or you WILL go stir-crazy!
Find an accountability partner.
I cannot stress enough how important this is! SOME of us are self-starters… some are not, I personally fall somewhere in the middle. Some days I feel motivated to take on the world, other days I want to binge-watch “Friends” all day long. Having that person that you talk to regularly about progress, status, projects, etc. helps keep the motivation up. Kristy is that person for me.
Set clear boundaries.
My family knows that I am working when I am in my office. They will come in and say goodbye to me when they leave for work and school, but they aren’t coming in bothering me asking whats for dinner, where their grey sweater is at, asking for me to cook breakfast, etc. They respect my work hours, and in return, I make a considerable effort not to be distracted by emails, texts, Facebook, etc. in the evening when we have family time. My mom and friends also understand that during those hours, I am not free to talk on the phone or meet up for lunch (most of the time). I work hard when I work, and I give myself permission to check out from work and be present for my friends and family when I am done working for the day. Some days I like to wrap up a few things later in the evening after we have had our family time and while Patrick watches his shows, but I try to be very cognizant about not letting work take over all of our personal time. It is easy to do when you are a business owner and working from home. Sometimes it seems like I will never catch up on work, but I have learned to be okay with coming to a good stopping point and prioritizing my relationships too!
Don’t forget to shower! (and other self care!)
Seriously, Don’t be me. You will feel better and function better if you get up, take a shower and get dressed in clean clothes. I promise. I feel like a different person when I do. I don’t know what it is, I think its a combination of the hot water waking you up, feeling refreshed for a new day and something psychological about feeling pulled together instead of looking a hot mess. Plus, I found that when I don’t bother to do my makeup and hair, I am less likely to leave the house and be social, which just sends me into a crabby mood and it's a vicious circle.
Good luck working from home and drop in the comments if you have additional tips to add!
